While in Cairns I’m visiting the Northern Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Alliance.

The Northern Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Alliance (NATSIHA) is the regional peak body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) in Far North Queensland, and works with these services and the communities they serve to ensure they have representation and advocacy at the state and federal level. They also work with members to ensure sustainability and continuation of works to the various communities and groups each member services.

NATSIHA’s aim is to provide quality holistic health services in a culturally appropriate manner to 80,000+ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in Far North Queensland, with the aim of raising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health status to a level equivalent to the wider Australian community.

If you would like to learn more about the work NATSIHA is doing, check out their website at: https://www.natsiha.org

I’ve got a quick trip around the corner to another health service!
